The apparel sector of the group was formed in the early 1980’s as a Japanese collaboration.

Samson (Exports) Ltd. located just outside Colombo city on the Kandy Road was the first company to produce apparel and the full production was exported to Japan. Being one of the few garment factories at that time in the country, the company was on full capacity.

With the high returns and more capacity needed to meet demand, the DSI Samson Group decided to commission the second apparel plant in the southern town of Galle with the intention of developing rural Sri Lanka..

Samson Apparel Makers (Pvt) Ltd. handled the same products but later on the sector moved into other international markets and became suppliers to leading international brands based in United Kingdom, USA and in Europe

Today with the introduction of the latest technology and a skilled workforce, the Group has succeeded in competing with low cost products from the far east, while maintaining the highest quality standards.
