Mr. Uditha Egalahewa

LL.M(Col), LL.M(Malta), President’s Counsel

Group Chairman

Mr. Uditha Egalahewa is a distinguished legal professional in Sri Lanka with over three decades of experience in the legal field.

His strong academic background includes two Master’s degrees, one in Law (Public Law) (LLM) from the University of Colombo and a second in Maritime and Shipping Law (LLM) as a World Bank-sponsored scholar from the International Maritime Law Institute of Malta, where he graduated with distinction and was awarded the Professor Walter Muller Prize. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Insurance Law from the University of Colombo.

In 1990, he joined the Chambers of the Attorney General of Sri Lanka and became a State Counsel and Senior State Counsel, serving for 15 years. Since April 2005, he has established a successful practice in Public Law and Commercial Law in Sri Lanka. In 2012, Mr. Egalahewa was appointed as a President’s Counsel by the President of Sri Lanka, in recognition of his contributions to the legal profession. He has extensive experience in a wide range of legal matters, including Public Law, Commercial Law, Investment Law, Employment Law, Commercial Arbitration, Insurance Law, and Constitutional Law, among others. He is an experienced arbitrator and is assisted by over ten junior counsels and legal apprentices practicing directly under him.

Apart from his legal practice, Mr. Egalahewa is a Commissioner of the Legal Aid Commission of Sri Lanka since 2008 and is a senior visiting lecturer to several professional organizations. He is also a Course Director of the Post Attorney Diploma and an Independent Director in several Companies, listed and unlisted.

He has published and presented extensively on law topics and is a sought-after academic legal expert due to his vast expertise.

Mr. Egalahewa is widely respected in Sri Lanka for his dedication to the legal profession.

Mr. Kasun Rajapaksa

Group Managing Director

Mr. Kasun Rajapaksa, the Managing Director of D.Samson Industries (Pvt) Ltd, Samson Compounds (Pvt) Ltd and a Group Director of DSI Samson Group (Pvt) Ltd, one of the country’s premier business conglomerates being the leading manufacturer of footwear and bicycle tyres in Sri Lanka, represents the 3rd generation of the family company, already counting over 21 years of Corporate Experience in the Footwear and Rubber manufacturing sectors.

Being a prominent sportsman, especially in Tennis, Kasun was a versatile product of D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo-7 where he obtained his primary and secondary education and turned out to be a good all-rounder. Thereafter, he pursued his higher education in Australia. He graduated from Deakin University in Melbourne having specialized in Finance and Management Information System and then returned to the motherland to strengthen the family business.

He is the Past Chairman of Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE) & former Member of the Board of Management of the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority Sri Lanka (NAITA) and member of the General Assembly of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation in Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI).

He currently holds a fellow membership at Sri Lanka Institute of Directors and provides his advisory skills as a member of the Export Development Board (EDB) footwear sector and Sri Lanka Footwear Association (SLFA). He is also a member of the globally renowned Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and a Graduate Member of Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) Certification program

He is the current Vice Chairman of Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) and a member of the Committee of Management of Chairman of Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE).

Kasun also serves the Board of Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
